Riley sings and plays guitar and banjo in a wide variety of styles from bluegrass and folk to funk and jazz. He performs both original and covered music in multiple groups and as a solo artist.
Born and raised in Carlsbad, California, Riley first picked up the guitar when he was 9. He formed a band in high school called Chasing Norman that played throughout San Diego county. Riley wrote many original compositions for the band and eventually cut a record at a studio in San Diego.
Riley went on to study at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. While there, he met STIG, a progressive jazz funk band. He joined as their guitarist and went on to tour the United States full time for 3 years. The band performed all original music at venues and festivals throughout the country and recorded at studios in Philadelphia, Denver and Boston.
Riley recently recorded a Bluegrass album with local musicians from San Luis Obispo and a friend from STIG. He is currently working on bluegrass and folk projects and performing at various venues and wineries around San Diego County.
